How To Scale One Content Idea Into Ten

Okay. Everything starts with your content pillars. And content pillars are the repeatable themes and topics you cover in your content.

So, let’s imagine I’m a supplement company focused on the endurance space, so my content pillars could be:

  • Running Performance
  • Recovery
  • Supplementation & Nutrition

Cool. Let’s run with these.

Because next is adding a parent topic underneath a content pillar.

Content Pillar = Running Performance

Parent Topic = Hydrating for a marathon

The key to a good parent topic is that it always supports a content pillar.

And your parent topic is the core idea you’re going to scale.

The next step is formats.

So, let’s take ‘Hydrating for a marathon’ and scale this idea by looking at how many different ways we can deliver the information, aka formats.

It would look like this:

So, right now we got: Content Pillar x Parent Topic x Formats x ___________ .

That blank space is reserved for idea generation based on the format.

Which means taking the parent topic and creating an idea around it based on the format like this:

Done. No more “I got no ideas” excuses. Jk. But forreal. This changes the game. Especially when you start finding parent topics that crush.
